What makes an outdoor wall light last in Australia?
Three things: the IP rating, the body material and the finish. A fitting on a fully exposed wall needs a higher IP rating than one under a covered porch, and coastal homes need finishes that will not pit in salt air. Frequently asked questions about outdoor wlights
Is the Orb fully waterproof?
The Orb is designed for outdoor use with a sealed aluminium body and tempered-glass diffuser. Check the rating on its spec sheet against your location (a covered entry or patio is ideal) and have it installed by a licensed electrician with a weatherproof connection.
Can I use Battii indoor wall lights outside under a covered area?
No. The alabaster, ceramic, glass and stone fittings are IP20 rated. Use the Orb outdoors.
How high should outdoor wall lights be mounted?
Either side of a front door, around 1.6–1.8 m to the centre of the fitting, roughly at eye level as you approach. Along a wall or patio, keep them at a consistent height 2–3 m apart.
